Behind the Heart of Brushwood Corners: Stepping into Something New

There are seasons in life where everything seems to shift at once — business, home, love, loss — all colliding in ways you never planned for.
This season feels like one of those moments.
Entering a New World
Brushwood Corners has been quietly stepping into a new chapter. What began with handcrafted goat’s milk soap has grown — slowly, thoughtfully — into something more. Wax melts have found their place alongside the soaps, opening the door to a whole new world of creativity, learning, and risk.
It’s exciting. It’s overwhelming. And it’s exactly what growing a small business from the ground up looks like.
“Growth is a gift — but it carries its own kind of weight.”
Building From Top to Bottom
Running a small business means wearing every hat — maker, marketer, shipper, bookkeeper. There’s no off switch. And during tax season, the weight of it all feels heavier than usual.
Behind every product listing and pour is paperwork, planning, and responsibility. Growth is a gift — but it comes with pressure. Still, the work continues, because this business was built on showing up even when it’s hard.
Love Found in a Dark Place
Somewhere in the middle of exhaustion and uncertainty, something unexpected happened.
New love found its way into a place that once felt very dark.
A reminder that healing doesn’t always arrive loudly. Sometimes it shows up quietly — steady, patient, and real. Even while carrying grief, doubt, and weariness, something good can still take root.

Carrying Loss and Feeling Alone
Loss has a way of changing everything.
Losing family leaves behind a silence that’s hard to explain. There are days when the loneliness feels heavier than the work itself — moments where you realize how much has shifted, and how much support once came from places that are no longer there.
Some days, the grief sits quietly. Other days, it feels overwhelming.
Both are real.

When Home No Longer Feels Like Home
In the coming weeks, our house will be listed again.
It’s a strange thing to prepare to leave a place that once held comfort but no longer feels like home. Staying can be just as scary as leaving — maybe even more so — when the space around you no longer matches who you’re becoming.
There’s hope that Brushwood Corners may one day move cross-country, chasing warmer weather, fresh starts, and new ground to grow on. The thought is exciting… and terrifying… and full of possibility.
Moving Forward, One Step at a Time
Brushwood Corners has always been more than a business.
It’s been about resilience. About survival. About choosing to keep creating even when life feels unsteady.
Every bar poured and every wax melt crafted carries pieces of this journey — the loss, the hope, the growth, and the faith that something better can still be built.
“Every bar poured and every wax melt crafted carries pieces of this journey.”
This season feels like standing on the edge of something new — not knowing exactly how it will unfold, but trusting that the heart behind the work will carry us forward.
“One step. One pour. One brave decision at a time.”
